Beak LIMS
FEATURES / SAMPLE MANAGEMENT

Know where every sample stands.

Paper logs and spreadsheets make the simplest question hard to answer: where is this sample, and who has it now?

Beak LIMS gives every specimen a single record from the moment a request is registered. Reception, benches and reviewers work from the same status, so the team spends less time searching and more time testing.

AT A GLANCE

  • Register the request and the specimen, and keep a status the team can share.
  • Label work so receipt, rejection and routing stay attached to the same sample.
  • See history as the sample moves between benches.
  • Route samples to the right tests, worksheets and instruments.

How it works

  1. 01

    Register request

  2. 02

    Print label

  3. 03

    Receive or reject

  4. 04

    Assign to worksheet

  5. 05

    Track to result

Registration and labels

Capture the patient or client, the requesting facility and the tests ordered in one step. Beak LIMS assigns a laboratory sample ID and prints a barcode label so the tube and its record never separate.

Receipt and rejection

Mark samples as expected, received or rejected at the bench. Rejection reasons are recorded against the sample, so the requester can be told why and a recollection can be arranged.

Worksheets and routing

Group received samples into worksheets by test or instrument. Analysts see what is waiting on their bench, and supervisors see where the queue is building up.

Status and history

Every change of status is time-stamped and attributed to a user. When someone asks where a sample is, the answer is one search away.

Who uses it

  • Reception

Registers requests, prints labels and records receipt.

  • Analysts

See the samples routed to their bench and worksheet.

  • Supervisors

Follow pending work and spot delays across the laboratory.

Questions

Can we keep our existing sample ID format?

Sample ID formats are configured during onboarding. We review your current numbering and agree a scheme that fits your laboratory.

What happens to rejected samples?

A rejected sample keeps its record, with the rejection reason and who rejected it. It does not move on to testing.

Which barcode printers and scanners work?

Beak LIMS prints standard barcode labels that common label printers and scanners can handle. We confirm your specific hardware during discovery.

Product screenshots are added only from a seeded laboratory, with the version and date recorded.
